A Holiday Gift from IMPACT
What can we at IMPACT give you for the holidays? How about time and perspective? Wouldn't that be nice? IMPACT can't give you these things but we can help you get them.
The first gift we can give you is the recognition that there is never enough time and there is always more work.
During the holiday season, there is even less time. You have more to do. You have holiday parties to go to. You have added personal responsibilities (tree trimming or gift giving or reconnecting with friends and family). How can you get through the season with joy? Accept the fact that there is never enough time and stop worrying. Is it that easy? Almost. It is certainly worth a try. So try this, every time you feel stressed about all you have to do, say to yourself, "There is never enough time and that is OK. I'll do what I can and I will feel content with that."
The second gift we can give you is perspective.
Have you ever heard of the "five year rule"? Here's how it works. Pull out your "to do" list. Look down the list and ask yourself the question, "will this matter in five years?" Put a star beside everything that will matter in five years. You'll be pleasantly surprised by how few things you can **honestly** star. I guarantee that the gifts you buy will not matter in five years and the visits you make and parties you throw will. Finally, think about all the people you care about. Are you seeing or speaking to them all during the holidays? Put them all on your list and put a star beside them. Focus all of your energy on the things you have starred.
